Learn to recognise intervals by relating them to songs you know. A useful resource for this is Interval Song Chart.
Practise Aural Tests
Some free aural tests are available on musictheory.net:
- Keyboard Ear Training: play the interval heard on the keyboard
- Note Ear Training: select the note name of the second note in a given interval
- Interval Ear Training: name the interval by number and quality
- Chord Ear Training: name the chord

A useful app for practising AMEB aural tests is Aural Book by Playnote (they also offer versions for other exam bodies).. These feature the exact tests used for each grade; the app listens to your response and gives feedback about your accuracy. Each level has a limited number of free tests. I am registered with Playnote as a teacher, and can send an invitation to connect to my account to receive a discount on additional (paid) levels. I do not receive any sort of commission for this!
