The school holidays are a common time for Professional Development for music teachers, though other sessions are held regularly throughout the year through the various music teachers’ associations around Australia. Not all webinars I attend or watch back offer professional development certificates.
One of the PD events for the June / July 2024 school holidays that I had registered for ended up being postponed, but I did attend another workshop that same day, as well as another one later in July. One was organised by the Australian Music Examinations Board; I had already seen Lisa Bastien present, so I didn’t cancel my teaching during her session, but I did shuffle some lessons around to see UK pedagogue Paul Harris and his session on Creative Teaching methods.
I also participated in the Teachers Forum presented by the WA Music Teachers Assocation, on scales mastery.
