A milestone today – my 15th published arrangement has just gone live!
After initially making my organ arrangement of The Holy City available for free download when I first started using MuseScore, I was shocked when they started emailing stats in January 2021 to find it had 1800 views and 628 downloads. I very quickly looked into self publishing, and took it down from MuseScore and published it to both Gumroad and SMP Press very soon after. Within a few months I had published 3 piano arrangements as well, with SMP Press handling licensing of music under copyright.
Not long after, SMP Press migrated to Hal Leonard’s “Arrange Me” platform. I was amongst the last to be moved over in April 2022. Ironically Arrange Me has now been bought by Muse Group, so now my arrangements are back on MuseScore (this time as “official” scores), as well as Sheet Music Plus and Sheet Music Direct.
Resigning from WAMTA and finishing up there at the end of April has given me the time to return to regularly publishing arrangements. I’ve been aiming to publish one a week from June since I launched my dedicated new website, Music With Simone Shop. I’ve been able to reduce the price on my self-hosted public domain arrangements, as I think ArrangeMe’s minimums are too high, especially given the exchange rate!
